June Adventures at Kingsacre Care Home
June has already been a busy month for our care home residents with lots of activities taking place inside and outside the home including trips to cafés, art galleries and the cinema.
With the summer months now finally upon us, our activity coordinators have organised many activities within our local community. This month we took a few of our residents to the 'Burrell Collection' which is a local art gallery that has 6,000 years worth of history inside.
We found the whole trip was an extremely engaging trip for our residents with lots of conversations over the artefacts that were displayed as well as some fact sharing amongst each other. It is important that we provide our residents with mentally stimulating activities to help with their mental health and well-being. To finish off the day, our residents and the team ended up in the gallery cafe where there were able to share their thoughts on the exhibits.
Also this month, we ventured out to the pictures to see 'The Little Mermaid' which many found super fun especially because many remember the original coming out in 1989. Our residents enjoyed the whole day from picking some snacks before the film, watching the remake and then popping to McDonalds for dinner.
All these activities have allowed residents at our West Dunbartonshire care home to explore Clydebank and feel part of the community. Our residents thoroughly enjoy getting out and about to see new sights, learn new skills and chat with the locals.
